On Tuesday 1st December, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) published an insightful report on beef exports from Brazil.
As leather is a by-product of the meat and dairy industry, this is relevant information within that context and provides valuable information and metrics that our leather industry should consider within sourcing and procurement of raw material.
The complexity of issues that surround these risks in terms of social, environmental and economic factors means it is important that as an industry we focus on these challenges in a more collaborative and cohesive way.
Sustainable Leather Foundation is proud to be working closely with the National Wildlife Federation around deforestation, land conversion and biodiversity and we encourage all our partners to evaluate their value chains and consider how they can support and influence solutions to these challenges.
