Leather Industry Associations
Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI), previously known as COMESA/LLPI, was chartered in 1990, with the endorsement of 17 COMESA Heads of States. The COMESA Council of Ministers in its Thirty-Seventh Meeting decided that starting from 1st January 2018 COMESA – Leather and Leather Products Institute to be rebranded as Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI). ALLPI’s main Mandate is to support the development of the leather sector in the Region
COTANCE represents the European Leather Industry in the EU and at international level. It is the network of European leather producers’ associations and connects with over 95% of all the region’s tanneries. COTANCE celebrated in 2019, 50 years developing active coordination policies in the areas of trade, ESG, R&D+I, as well as education & training and image & communications.
The Leather & Hide Council of America (L&HCA) was established in 2020 following the merger of two of the US’ oldest industry associations, the United States Hide Skin and Leather Association, founded in 1979, and the Leather Industries of America, founded in 1917. The result was a powerful new voice for the sector, a trade body representing the interests of some 75 member companies, large and small, ranging from meat packers and hide processors, to leather tanners and finished leather goods producers, in the US and around the world.
Leather naturally is a not-for-profit industry members association that focuses on education and the promotion of leather. It promotes the use of globally manufactured sustainable leather and seek to inspire and inform designers, creators, and consumers about its beauty, quality and versatility.
Leather UK is committed to protecting the unique identity of leather as a sustainable and beautiful product and working together as one united sector to promote the UK leather brand at home and abroad.
The Italian Tanners’ Association is protecting its associate companies since 1946 and represents a strategic industry, which is a fundamental component of Italy’s manufacturing and economic fabric. It not only promotes the interests of the sector, it also represents it on every level, boosts innovation, enhances both its social and environmental role and sets up commercial companies that are functional to the sectorial market.
