On Monday 15th March 2021, Mulberry England launched its luxury resale presence on Vestiaire Collective, an online platform that sells pre-loved luxury items. Mulberry are the second approved brand partner on the platform and items from Mulberry’s buy-back and refurbish scheme, Mulberry Exchange are listed on the platform with the “Brand Approved” tag on the listing.
Mulberry Exchange was launched in February 2020, as part of Mulberry’s progressive circular economy program. It is a suite of services that enables their customers to have their Mulberry bags authenticated and appraised, with the opportunity to put this value towards a new purchase. The program was a natural extension of Mulberry’s repair and renew service that has been available for decades. The new partnership with Vestiaire takes that concept a step further by bringing wide online purchasing accessibility for these pre-loved items.
“We take pride in crafting bags that last a lifetime, that can be used, loved and passed onto the next generation.”
As the Vestiaire website states, “luxury resale is the ultimate way to achieve circularity, giving Mulberry bags a second life (and third, and fourth). Along with reducing and recycling, repairing items is a crucial part of circular fashion. If you extend the life of an item by just 9 months, this can reduce its environmental impact by up to 30%.
The British luxury brand are leaders in this field and have offered aftercare for decades, allowing customers to repair rather than replace a well-loved bag. With a shared belief that well-made bags can (and should) be handed down from generation to generation, this collaboration brings together the skill of Mulberry’s artisans with our mission to change the way we all think about fashion.
Crafted and restored in the UK, these unique pieces are fully authenticated by Mulberry. As they celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2021, they’re just as committed as we are to building a truly sustainable legacy for the next 50 years and beyond.” https://lnkd.in/dqyYK2U
Congratulations to the Mulberry and Vestiaire teams – this represents another positive step to delivering sustainable change and we at the Sustainable Leather Foundation are proud to count Mulberry as one of our Founding Partners!
